Brief update on battery rebates in Australia

Various state and territory governments have introduced, or working on, incentives for homeowners to purchase energy storage solutions.

Below is a brief overview of where each state and territory are at:

 

South Australia have implemented a rebate scheme that will provide $500 per kWh of energy storage up to a maximum $6,000 per system.  Only batteries that have VPP (Virtual Power Plant) capability and listed on the CEC Battery Assurance Program are eligible. Click here for more details

 

Victoria are developing a scheme that will provide 50% of the cost up to a maximum $4,838 for energy storage systems. Only batteries that have VPP capability and listed on the CEC Battery Assurance Program will be eligible. Click here for more details

 

ACT are providing $825 per kW discharge for a minimum of 1 hour up to a maximum of 30kW. Click here for more details.

 

Queensland are providing battery assistance packages offering grants of $3,000 and interest-free loans of up to $6,000 repayable within 10 years.  Only batteries listed on the CEC Battery Assurance Program will be eligible. Click here for more details
